United People's Bangladesh (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.), commonly known as UP Bangladesh, is a political platform in Bangladesh.[2] It was founded on 9 May 2025 as a pressure group advocating democratic reform.[3][1]

History

UP Bangladesh was publicly introduced at a press event at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka. The group was formed in the aftermath of the July Revolution that called for political change in Bangladesh.[4][5][6]

Ideology and position

UP Bangladesh describes itself as supporting democratic and liberal values, and positions itself between the centre and centre-right of the political spectrum.[7]

Organization

The platform includes former leaders of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee. It has identified Ali Ahsan Zonaed as its leader and Shahrin Sultana Era as spokesperson.[8]

Activities

UP Bangladesh has announced that it will not participate in the upcoming national elections. Instead, the group plans to focus on building organizational strength, engaging in public dialogue, and launching affiliated bodies, including a student wing.[citation needed]

In August 2025, it urged the interim government to issue the July Charter.[9] In September that year, it said that it would to coordinate with July movement participants to carry out individual or joint programs. They called for legal recognition of the July Charter and announced nationwide programs to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Abrar Fahad.[10]

Future plans

UP Bangladesh has expressed plans to transform into a full political party in the future.[11]
