University of the West of Scotland RFC is a rugby union club based in Paisley, Scotland. The club operates a men's team[1] and a women's team.[2] Both currently play in the university leagues.

History

The University of the West of Scotland has three campus bases: the main base in Paisley in Renfrewshire; a base in Ayr in South Ayrshire; and a base in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. The men's side state that the three bases have greatly increased the player numbers available to the team.[3]

The men's side play an annual challenge match against a UWS alumni side.[3] They play for the Alumni Challenge Cup.[4]

Sides

The sides train on Paisley RFC's Anchor Playing Fields.

The club used to play at Thornly Park in Paisley, but now only play there as a back-up to the Anchor grounds.[5]

The University of the West of Scotland has applied for planning permission to turn the Thornly Park sports ground into a housing development.[6]
