U Beauty is an American skincare brand founded in 2019[2] by entrepreneur and blogger Tina Chen Craig and beauty executive Katie Borghese.[3] The company sells facial and body care products that use proprietary SIREN Capsule Technology[4]. U Beauty products are available direct‑to‑consumer and through retailers such as Violet Grey[5], Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, and Cult Beauty[6].

History

Tina Chen Craig, best known for her fashion blog Bag Snob,[7] first encountered the proprietary technology that drives U Beauty while working with Katie Borghese, who was consulting for an Italian laboratory[6]. They financed early production through a line of credit and distributed around 100,000 free six‑day samples. The inventory they expected to last a year sold out in less than one month[6].

U Beauty debuted on Net‑a‑Porter in 2019[8] with only the Resurfacing Compound. According to Vogue, the product sold out within a day[4]. The founders incorporated the company and extended distribution to Violet Grey in April 2020; subsequent partnerships with Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, Cult Beauty, David Jones and other retailers followed[6]. In June 2022 the growth‑equity firm Sandbridge Capital purchased a minority stake in U Beauty[9][10]. According to Vogue Business, the undisclosed investment was intended to fund new product categories and accelerate sales[9]. Vogue reported that the company’s revenue grew 50% in 2022[4].
