Ultra Commerce is a software and hosting company. It is based in Australia with additional offices in the United States and United Kingdom. Ultra Commerce provides managed-hosting services for commerce applications with its cloud platform SmartStack and offers its own digital commerce platform.

History[edit]

Ultra Commerce was founded under the name UltraServe by Samuel Yeats in 2000. He stepped down as CEO in 2014, handing over to Matthew Hyland.[1][2] In the same year internet entrepreneur Simon Hackett acquired a 40% stake in the business. The investment associated with this was used for international expansion, notably to the United States and the United Kingdom.[3]

In March 2020, the name Ultra Commerce was adopted in favour of UltraServe. This was to reflect the company's focus on delivering digital commerce outcomes globally, according to their CEO.[4]

Cloud platform[edit]

In 2014 UltraServe became the first cloud platform provider for SAP-owned commerce software suite Hybris, in addition to providing Magento deployments. Both have been using the SmartStack platform running on AWS and they marked a focus on ecommerce.[5]

Digital commerce platform[edit]

Ultra Commerce offers a complete digital commerce platform, which is also running on its cloud platform Smart Stack, since 2019. The company Founders First (now known as Mighty Craft[6]) announced that they signed an agreement to use this digital commerce platform for sales of their craft brewery and distillery products, in July 2020.[7]
