Unspooled
Unspooled is a film podcast initially evaluating the canon of American cinema and later cinema as a whole. Season 1 episodes focused on a single movie from the AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition) while Season 2 examines a single genre, each genre being grouped into an individual "miniseries." The show is hosted by The Village Voice film critic Amy Nicholson[1] and actor-comedian Paul Scheer. As of September 2021, the podcast is discussing Summer Blockbusters.[2]
History
Paul Scheer and Amy Nicholson originally met when Amy Nicholson previously hosted The Canon (podcast) on Earwolf, Paul Scheer first came on the podcast to debate the artistic merits of the original Ghostbusters, and he was later asked back to discuss the cult movie The Room[3] Paul Scheer had realized that he hadn't seen many of the movies on the AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition), and asked Amy Nicholson to co-host a podcast covering the 100 movies on the list.
