A currently untitled Apple smart home hub is scheduled to be released on October 13, 2026, alongside the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and the HomePod Mini 2. The device will feature a screen similar to the iPad.[1][2]

History

Development

Reports about Apple's smart home hub have started in late 2024, with early rumors suggesting that the HomePod will have a built-in screen and Apple Intelligence.[3] In January 2026, MacRumors reported that the device will have a "robotic swiveling base",[4] followed by descriptions of other device features in March.[5] Throughout development, various placeholder names have been used, including "HomePad", "Smart Home Hub", and "HomePod Touch".[6]

On September 30, 2026, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that the device will be announced on October 13, 2026.[1][7][8]

In October 2026, a post on X suggested that the Apple smart home hub will come in four colors: Rose Pink, Silver, Space Gray, and Starlight.[7] At the same time, Apple Stores have received boxes containing stickers that warned people not to open until October 8. According to the reports, they appear to have "visual merchandise" that relate to upcoming products inside, including the smart home hub.[9]

Overview

The Apple smart home hub will feature a six-inch display,[7] and have a base and stand that are similar to as seen on the iMac G4. Other rumored features include that the device will have a single front-facing camera and be powered using USB-C without a battery.[8]
