Uppbeat is a royalty-free music, sound effects and motion graphics platform[1] that provides assets for content creators to use in their videos. The platform operates a freemium model, with both free and paid subscription options available to users.[2]
The Leeds, UK-based company[3] was launched by co-founders Lewis Foster and Matt Russell in 2021.[2] Uppbeat started as a music platform, but expanded to offer sound effects to its users later in 2021[4] and then motion graphics in 2025.[5] The platform also features a playlist generator powered by ChatGPT that allows users to search the library of artist-made music using their own words.[6]
In March 2022, Uppbeat secured $6.15 million in Series A funding from an undisclosed investor after growing to over 500,000 users since launch.[7] Later in 2022, Uppbeat passed one million users and relocated to new offices to support the expansion of the company.[3]
