Ustad Hamid Khan

Ustad Hamid Khan (born 1944) is an Indian sarangi player.[1]

Early Life[edit]

Khan was born in 1944 in Gwalior. He learned sarangi from his father Ustad Pyar Khan and from Ustad Yasin Khan Badodawale.[2]

Career[edit]

Khan was a staff artist at All India Radio Nagpur for 32 years and has performed on many Indian festivals such as Tansen Samaroh, Mahashastra Dance and Music Festival (1964), Akshwan Sangeet Samelan (1965). Khan has also performed in Allahabad (1975), Mumbai (1982), Chennai (1983), Port Blair (1993) and Calcutta (1974 and 1989). He has accompanied many vocalists such as Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Girija Devi, L.K. Pandit, Padmavati Shaligram, Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Gangubai Hangal and Begum Akhtar. [3]
