VBET is an online gambling company headquartered in Armenia. It was founded in 2003 by Vigen and Vahe Badalyan, VBET offers a platform for sports betting, online casino, live casino, poker, eSports, and other online games. The bookmaker has over 1000 employees and several offices in Yerevan, Malta, and London.

Overview[edit]

VBET is the B2C branch of Betconstruct, a gambling software developer, both are headquartered in Yerevan, Armenia.

VBET is operated by Vivaro Limited, a company registered in Malta with registration number C45929. Since gambling is regulated in the United Kingdom, Vivaro Ltd is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission under the Remote Operating License Number: 000-044662-R-324273.

History[edit]

The company was founded in 2003 under the name Vivaro by the Badalyan brothers [3], Armenian entrepreneurs, it started as a land-based bookmaker. The name of the company bore the initials of the two founding brothers (Vigen and Vahe), as well as that of their father (Roman).

In 2004, Vivaro launched its first-ever online betting website, a novelty in Armenia, as at the time online services were rare in the country and were just being introduced to the general public.

By 2009, Vivaro had more than 300 gambling parlors across the country. Over the next years, the company continued its expansion and started to diversify its offers and services.

In 2014, the company launched itself on the international market with a new name and identity, thus becoming VBET. It acquired the Curacao License in 2014 and was approved by the MGA (Malta Gaming Authority) in 2015 [4], the UKGC [5] ( United Kingdom Gambling Commission) and the ANJ [6] ( France's National Gaming Authority) in 2017 and the SGA [7] (Swedish Gambling Authority) in 2020.

Sponsorships[edit]

VBET sponsors several sports teams and events.

In 2019 VBET started sponsoring English Premier League team Arsenal FC [8], the partnership was supposed to last 3 years but ended after a year.

In November 2019, VBET partnered with Univent to promote the boxing event between WBA Super World Cruiserweight Champion, Arsen Goulamirian, and the Australian, Kane Watts, in Paris. VBET also sponsored Goulamirian's next fight against Constantin Bejenaru in Marseille.

In August 2020, VBET started sponsoring the French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco. VBET's logo appears on the players' shorts, the sponsorship will last 2 seasons [9].

In December 2020, VBET became the official partner of English football club Portsmouth FC[10].

In January 2020 VBET became the title sponsor for the esports team Alliance.

Local Sponsorships[edit]

In Armenia, VBET sponsors the Armenian team FC Pyunik, the Armenian Cup, and the Armenian Premier League [11].

Since 2019 VBET is also the headline sponsor of the Armenia Basketball League A.

In 2020 VBET stated that it wants to support the developing Pétanque scene in Armenia and sponsored several tournaments [12].

Awards[edit]

VBET won the nomination for the Best Online Operator of the Year 2018, at the BEGE Awards [13].

In 2020, VBET won the BR Award, Best Betting Company in Armenia [14]
