VOICES is a monthly magazine in three languages based in Skopje, Macedonia. It is a project of the Macedonian NGO Volunteers Centre Skopje. It publishes articles in English, Maceodnia and Albanian.[1]

The magazine is entirely edited by volunteers, from coordinating meetings to designing the magazine, through writing articles and other pieces. Local volunteers and young people from all around the world also contribute to the magazine by writing articles and/or translating them.

VOICES has been published since December 2006 and has 178 issues, 27 of which are in hard copy. Until 2013 there was one printed edition per year; now it is printed three to four times a year.

Aims[edit]

VOICES magazine targets at providing more opportunities for young people so that they can gain experience of working in an international team, discover other countries and cultures, promote volunteerism, and learn more about writing, editing and designing a magazine, but also about non-formal education programs, and active youth involvement.

Mission[edit]

VOICES is focused on involving young people in society and also on giving them a platform to express themselves freely, share their opinion, and integrate them into the VOICES team.[2]

VOICES magazine is always open to new articles and writers; people can write about any topic they want besides hate speech and politics. VOICES magazine every month has around 12 articles on different topics. The topics that are often in VOICES magazine are:

Podcast VOICES to Hear[edit]

VOICES come in many forms and shapes. Starting from October 2021, VOICES team started making podcasts as well. Various topics are involved in the episodes. Going from “Sexual education” and “TikTok as a tool for artistic expression” to “Happily n’ever after” and “Why the f*** people trash?”, which is representing how the podcast is widespread with different topics. VOICES podcast is in English, to provide you with interesting content around the world. The podcasts are available on Spotify and Google Podcasts under the title “VOICES to Hear”.[3]
