Valentina Sciarra is a visual artist who was born in Rome, Italy in 1983. She lives and works between her hometown Rome and Sofia, Bulgaria, where she is represented by Structura Gallery.[1][2][3][4]

Education[edit]

She got a Master Degree in Law with honors in 2013 at the Academy of Fine arts in Rome where she followed many specialized courses in photography and came up with a thesis on “Wastelands in the Urban Space”. She wrote her thesis during a study program at Villa Arson Art Academy in Nice, France.

In 2018, she also completed a Master degree in sculpture at Sofia’s National Academy of Arts.

Concept[edit]

Valentina Sciarra’s artworks range from sculptures or installations to photography, videos and sound. In her work, she uses a multi-media language to explore aspects related to collective perception and shared analogies, structuring an invitation to confront reality. All the projects she has created arise from a deep conceptual and aesthetic research to go beyond a "mere dispersive discourse".[citation needed]

She has carried out multiple specific researches since 2016, on subjects such as stone sculpture.

She uses her degree in Law to add in her artistic creations the art of interpreting our society.

Valentina Sciarra’s goal is to keep what is essential to fulfill our need for perpetual search of ourselves during a contemporary era in which all experiences are aestethified. For this, the main material she uses is stone, not as a dead object but rather as an alive part of nature, with the intention to suggest a reconnection with nature, not only in art but in our daily lives. In addition to stone sculpture, she is also researching the theme of "time".
