Valley Gardens (sometimes known as Friarwood Valley Gardens) is a public park in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England. It is one of three large public parks in the town; the others being Pontefract Park and the grounds of Pontefract Castle. Valley Gardens are used for the hosting of Liquorice Festival.
History[edit]
Valley Gardens were laid out in 1950 on the site of a former monastery. The gardens were designed principally by Borough of Pontefract Parks and Cemeteries Superintendent, R. W. Grubb.[1]
