Ved Prakash Upadhyay or Ved Prakash Upaddhay (born 1947) is an Indian Sanskrit and Hinduism scholar, author, lecturer, professor, educationist and social activist.[6] He is the author of many books on Sanskrit literature and Hinduism.[6] His mostly known for his work Kalki Avatar and Muhammad.[7] He got many national and international honours for his contributions including President award of India in 2018.[6][8]
Early life[edit]
Ved Prakash Upadhyay was born on 2 February 1947 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.[6] His father was Saryuparin Vedic scholar Pt.Shriramjeevan Upadhyay.[6][9]
Education[edit]
Upadhyay is a scholar of D.Phil in Sanskrit Vedas and D.Litt in Dharmashastra Hindu Law, Vedas, Philosophy, Theology, Literature, Tantra, Justice and Punishment etc.[6]
Career[edit]
He served for 40 years at Panjab University, Chandigarh and retired as Professor and Head of Sanskrit Department.[6][8][10] He then taught Sanskrit medium for three years in the classes of Shastri, Acharya and Abhascharya at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi.[6][8] More than 60 students have done PhD under him.[1] He was made the President of Adarsh Sanskrit Shodha Sanstha of Himachal Pradesh by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and he is the chairman of the institution still now.[6][8][4] Impressed by his brilliant research work, he was honored and rewarded at the national and international level by many national and international institutions.[6][8] Apart from this, he participated in more than 100 Sanskrit classical conferences, presided over 26 international conferences and research seminars, published 100 research papers and under his direction, 70 research students did M.Phil. and 60 have done Ph.D.[6][8] At present, he is also the chairman and member of several committees.[8][11][12] He has also given radio talks several times, whose aim has been to make Sanskrit universal. Haryana Sanskrit Academy as a member of many important committees of Haryana Government, Upadhyay has been an active contributor and has been working as a consultant in Hariprabha research magazine. He is performing the responsibility as the custodian of the Gurukul Mansadevi complex.[6]
Awards and receiptions[edit]
On the basis of these achievements, eight gold medals and 33 honors were also received by him. Overwhelmed by his devotion, contribution, publicity and dissemination towards Sanskrit, Doordarshan has also aired a one-hour special personality program on 22 March 2012 for his important contribution.[6] Minister of State for Human Resources Mahendra Nath Pandey conferred Vidvadhushan Award in Kashi Vidwat Parishad and Manavdhikar Ratna Award by Fiji Ambassador Prabhakar Jha on behalf of International Human Rights Protection Bureau.[6] In 2017, he received the Sanskrit Sahitya Alangkar Award from the Haryana Sanskrit Academy.[13] In 2017, he received the Sahitya Ratna Padak from the Punjabi Language Department[14] and in 2019 he received the President Award of India 2018 for his contribution to Sanskrit language.[8][6][15]

60 से ज्यादा विद्यार्थियों को पीएचडी करवा चुके संस्कृत के प्रकाण्ड विद्वान डॉ. वेदप्रकाश उपाध्याय 24 जून को पंचकूला स्थित माता मनसा देवी राजकीय संस्कृत महाविद्यालय में पहुंचेंगे। यह जानकारी माता मनसा देवी राजकीय संस्कृत महाविद्यालय पंचकूला की प्राचार्या श्रीमती रीटा गुप्ता ने दी। प्रांगण में संस्कृत सम्भाषण शिविर चल रहा है, जिसका उद्घाटन आनन्द मोहन शरण जी के करकमलों द्वारा शुभारम्भ किया गया। यह आयोजन निदेशक डॉ. दिनेश शास्त्री, हरियाणा संस्कृत अकादमी के सौजन्य से सुचारू व्यवस्था में चल रहा है।

इस अवसर पर महाविद्यालय की प्राचार्या रीटा गुप्ता ने बताया कि कार्यक्रम का समापन 24 जून को महाविद्यालय परिसर में होगा। इस कार्यक्रम में संस्कृत विद्वानों के साथ-साथ मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में 60 से ज्यादा विद्यार्थियों को पीएचडी करवा चुके संस्कृत के प्रकांड विद्वान डॉ. वेदप्रकाश उपाध्याय, हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा संस्कृत महामहोपाध्याय की मानद सर्वोच्च पदवी से विभूषित पहुंच कर सुशोभित करेंगें। प्रो० उपाध्याय जी को हाल ही में बुन्देलखण्ड झांसी में राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा गौरव सम्मान से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है।

The Principal said that the main objective of Sanskrit Samvadshala is to make Sanskrit language the language of the people. In this program, Dr. Renuka Dhyani and Dr. Rajbir Kaushik from the college are taking charge as coordinators. Learners coming from remote areas are continuously given Visharad, Shastri, Jyotish Diploma, and Karmkand Diploma in the Government Sanskrit College located in Mansa Devi Temple. संस्कृत के क्षेत्र में विशिष्ट योगदान के लिए पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय से सेवानिवृत्त प्रोफ़ेसर यूजीसी एमिरेटस डॉ. वेदप्रकाश उपाध्याय को 4 अप्रैल, 2019 को राष्टऊपति सम्मान 2019 से सम्मानित किया गया।
प्रो. उपाध्याय का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के इलाहाबाद जनपद में प्रतिष्ठित सरयूपारीण वैदिक विद्वान् पं.श्रीरामजीवन उपाध्याय जी के घर में 7 फरवरी 1947 को हुआ। विश्वख्याति प्राप्त डा. उपाध्याय संस्कृत वेद में डी.फिल् एवं धर्मशास्त्र हिन्दू विधि विषय में डी. लिट्, वेद, दर्शन, धर्मशास्त्र, साहित्य, तन्त्र, न्याय एवं दण्डव्यवस्था आदि के मर्मज्ञ एवं उत्कृष्ट विद्वान् हैं। उन्होंने पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय चण्ड़ीगढ़ में 40 वर्ष तक अपनी सेवाएँ दी और संस्कृत विभाग के प्रोफ़ेसर एवं अध्यक्ष पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए। तदनन्तर श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री राष्ट्रिय संस्कृत विद्यापीठ नई दिल्ली में शास्त्री, आचार्य एवं विशिष्टाचार्य की कक्षाओं में तीन वर्ष तक संस्कृत माध्यम से अध्यापन किया। आपको यूजीसी वरिष्ठ अध्येतावृत्ति, शास्त्रचूडामणि भी प्राप्त हुई। मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के द्वारा आप हिमाचल प्रदेश की आदर्श संस्कृत संस्था के अध्यक्ष बनाए गए। इनके वैदुष्यपूर्ण शोधकार्य से प्रभावित होकर अनेक राष्टऊीय और अन्तर्राष्टऊीय संस्थाओं द्वारा उन्हें राष्टऊीय और अन्तर्राष्टऊीय स्तर पर सम्मानित एवं पुरस्कृत किया गया। इन्ही उपलब्धियों के आधार पर आठ स्वर्ण पदक और 33 सम्मान भी प्राप्त किए।
इसके अतिरिक्त 100 से अधिक संस्कृत के शास्त्रीय सम्मेलनों में इनकी सहभागिता रही, 26 अन्तर्राष्टऊीय सम्मेलनों एवं शोध संगोष्ठियों में अध्यक्षता की, उनके 15 शोधपरक एवं मौलिक ग्रन्थ तथा 100 शोधपत्र प्रकाशित हुए तथा इनके निर्देशन में 70 शोध छात्रों ने एम. फिल. व 60 ने पी.एच.डी. की उपाधि ग्रहण की। वर्तमान में ये अनेक समितियों के अध्यक्ष व सदस्य भी हैं। संस्कृत के प्रति इनकी निष्ठा, योगदान, प्रचार व प्रसार से अभिभूत होकर महनवपूर्ण योगदान के लिए दूरदर्शन ने 22 मार्च, 2012 को एक घण्टे का विशेष कार्यक्रम शख्सियत भी प्रसारित किया है। इन्होंने अनेक बार रेडियो टॉक भी दिए हैं, जिनका उद्देश्य संस्कृत को विश्वव्यापी बनाना रहा है। मानव संसाधन राज्यमंत्री सम्मानीय महेंद्र नाथ पांडेय द्वारा काशीविद्वत्परिषद् में विद्वद्भूषण अलंकरण से तथा अन्तर्राष्टिऊय मानवाधिकार संरक्षण ब्यूरो की ओर से फिजी के राजदूत डा. प्रभाकर झा के द्वारा उन्हें मानवाधिकार रत्न अलंकरण से सम्मानित किया गया।

हरियाणा के साहित्यिक क्षेत्र में एक और गौरवमयी अध्याय जुडऩे जा रहा है। हरियाणा एक्जीक्यूटिव कौंसिल-कम-स्टेंडिंग कमेटी के सदस्य डॉ. वेद प्रकाश उपाध्याय को राष्ट्रपति सम्मान-2018 से नवाजा जाएगा। राष्ट्रपति भवन द्वारा हाल ही में इस संबंध में अधिसूचना जारी की गई है। राष्ट्रपति द्वारा यह सम्मान हर वर्ष साहित्य के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय कार्य करने वाले विद्वानों को दिया जाता है। विश्वख्याति प्राप्त डॉ. उपाध्याय संस्कृत वेद में डी.फिल् एवं धर्मशास्त्र हिन्दू विधि विषय में डी. लिट्, वेद, दर्शन, धर्मशास्त्र, साहित्य, तन्त्र, न्याय एवं दण्ड व्यवस्था आदि के मर्मज्ञ एवं उत्कृष्ट विद्वान् हैं। उन्होंने पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय चण्डीगढ़ में 1970 से 2010 तक अपनी सेवाएं दी और संस्कृत विभाग के प्रोफेसर एवं अध्यक्ष पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए। इनके वैदुष्यपूर्ण शोधकार्य से प्रभावित होकर अनेक राष्टï्रीय और अन्तर्राष्टï्रीय संस्थाओं द्वारा उन्हें सम्मानित एवं पुरस्कृत किया गया। इन्ही उपलब्धियों के आधार पर आठ स्वर्ण पदक भी प्राप्त किए।इसके अतिरिक्त 100 से अधिक संस्कृत के शास्त्रीय सम्मेलनों में इनकी सहभागिता रही, 26 अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों एवं शोध संगोष्ठियों में अध्यक्षता की, उनके 15 शोधपरक एवं मौलिक ग्रन्थ तथा 100 शोधपत्र प्रकाशित हुए तथा इनके निर्देशन में 70 शोध छात्रों ने एम. फिल. व 60 ने पी.एच.डी. की उपाधि ग्रहण की। वर्तमान में ये अनेक समितियों के अध्यक्ष व सदस्य भी हैं। (Another glorious chapter is going to be added in the literary field of Haryana. This was expressed by Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Panchayat Department Haryana Bakhshish Singh who was here on the occasion of Sanskrit Day being celebrated by Haryana Sanskrit Academy at Academy Bhawan located in Sector 14 of Panchkula. On this occasion, he started the program of the Sanskrit Academy by lighting a lamp. He said that Sanskrit was the language of the sages of the country. He also expressed his views on yoga on this occasion. He said that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. He also praised the work being done by the Sanskrit Academy on this occasion. India is not a nation of Qur’an-burners and mosque destroyers only. There are people like Dr. Ved Prakash Upadhyay too, who with their scholarship and erudition have upheld the truth and dignity of Islam and its prophet (pbuh). Dr. Ved Prakash Upadhyay is a man of formidable learning. A look at his degrees should convince you that here is an extraordinary scholar. His degrees: MA (Sanskrit, Vedas) D.Phil (Religion) BIS and IS. He also holds a diploma in German language. One has no option but to listen carefully to what he has to say. So, listen what he says on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Dr. Upadhyay in his Narashans Aur Antim Rishi asserts that the holy prophet was none else than the Narashans rishi of the Vedas. The word Narashans itself means one who is praised, the exact Sanskrit equivalent of Muhammad. Dr. Upadhyay, after considerable research, came to the conclusion that the rishi described as Narashans, "who would have twelve wives," is none other than the Holy Prophet. The vedas, which predate the prophet (pbuh) by several centuries, predict his birth, writes Dr. Upadhyay.
What is more remarkable is that Narashans rishi repeatedly figures throughout the vedas -- from the Rig Veda to Yajur Veda to Sam Veda and Atharva Veda. The more deeply one goes into the details, the more confirmed one is about the identity of the "Praised One".
