Veenu Paliwal

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Veenu Paliwal (1970 – 2016) was an Indian motor biker from Jaipur, Rajasthan.[1] Due to her enthusiasm for bikes, she was known as "The Lady of Harley" and "HOG Rani". She is considered to be the first Indian to ride a bike at over 350 km/hour.[citation needed]

Life[edit]

Paliwal was well known for being the only woman biker in Jaipur and it was a common sight to see Veenu riding her Harley Davidson 48 on the roads of Jaipur.

Her inspiration was her father since childhood, who himself was an "avid biker". Although she was passionate about bikes, it was only after getting into college when she learned to ride motorcycles from her college friends. However, she herself did not own any motorcycle then. She had one sister, two children, and two nieces.[2]

Veenu had clocked 17,000 km since November 2015 and hit the mark of 100,000 km in a year a record that still exists unbroken even by men, before upgrading to Harley's touring bike Road King.

Riding a bike gave her a sense of accomplishment and an increased awareness of road safety.

"When you're on a bike, all your senses are aware and on overdrive. You have to be alert because you're on your own, and if anything happens, you have to take control," she had said. Apart from being a biker, the 6 feet tall Paliwal was an entrepreneur and ran a lounge in Jaipur called "Chah Bar".[3]

Recognition[edit]

Paliwal was the first woman in India to ride a Harley frequently over 180 km/h and other super bikes over 300 km/h. That was how she got the name "HOG Rani (Queen) or "SPEED Rani (Queen)".

Speed Record 373 km/hour[edit]

The recorded top speed Veenu ever achieved is 373 km/hour on a "tuned" Suzuki Hayabusa in 2013, a rare feet achieved by a woman which still remains unbroken by any man from India till date. She thus became the first Indian and the only Indian to ride at that speed. She has gained "notoriety" for beating top "Indian male superbike riders" on straight lines.

Death[edit]

Veenu Paliwal died due to internal bleeding in a road accident near Gyaraspur on April 11, 2016 during a Harley Davidson sponsored nationwide tour where she had to cover all Harley Davidson dealerships.
