Vellapally Natesan
Vellappally Kesavan Natesan, popularly known as Vellappally Natesan, is the General Secretary of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, and Sree Narayana Trust, both Ezhava community organisations based in Kollam, Kerala.
History
Natesan hails from an Ezhava family in Cherthala, Alappuzha district, and runs contracting firms, hotels, and other business establishments. Natesan floated a political outfit called Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) in 2015, which is now led by his son Thushar Vellapally. It is a constituent of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kerala state.
Natesan's base is in Kanichukulangara, near Cherthala town, and his wife is Preethi Natesan, who is a director of the SNDP Yogam. Son Thushar Vellapally is also vice president of the Yogam.
Natesan started the highly successful Micro Finance Scheme through the SNDP Yogam taluk-level Unions, but there are ongoing complaints of financial mismanagement. The cases are ongoing.
Natesan made his money substantially from railway contracts. As is testified in his biography, he prominently participated in the Konkan Railway project that connected Kerala with Mumbai directly through the western coast via Mangalore. His family owns the Vellappally group of hotels and resorts.
