Vellathooval Reservoir

The water flowing from Ponmudi Dam through Panniyar and the water discharged from Chenkulam project after power generation is collected by the dam on the Muthirapuzha river, a tributary of the Periyar. This reservoir is called Vellathooval Reservoir. A power house has been built on the river adjacent to the dam to generate 3.6 megawatts of electricity using a turbine of 3.6 megawatts in a small hydroelectric project. Annual production is 12.17 MU. The project was commissioned in September 2016.
