Verda (company)
Verda is a Canadian company headquartered in Kitchener[1], Ontario. In 2018, Verda launched its recreational cannabis marketplace[2], eCommerce, pickup, and delivery solution for licensed dispensaries looking to sell online.
The company's web-app[3] connects users of-age with licensed cannabis dispensaries near them, and also provides cannabis retailers with the tools they need to begin selling online, completely free. As of 2021, the company operates in provinces across Canada, and is making their debut into the American market.
Background[edit]
Verda launched in 2018 by three young entrepreneurs, Evan Adcock, Mackenzie Ferguson & Stephen Masseur, who started the company with a hope to eradicate the illicit market, and allow for equal access to cannabis for individuals of legal age. Adcock, Ferguson & Masseur started the company in their hometown of Oakville[4], Ontario & planned to launch their platform in-line with the federal legalization of cannabis across Canada[5].
Products & Services[edit]
Dispensary eCommerce[edit]
Verda's retail portal is an end-to-end dispensary eCommerce platform, enabled through a single line of code on a retailer's website. Customers are able to fill their carts and select for in-store/curbside pickup, and even same-day home delivery or regional shipping where regulations allow. Verda is integrated with some of the biggest point-of-sale (POS), marketing, and delivery softwares, like Greenline POS, Global Payments[6], Spence, Budtender, Onfleet, Canada Post[7], and many more to seamlessly plug into any dispensary's tech stack.
VERDA.COM Marketplace[edit]
Verda.com[8] hosts listings from licensed dispensaries across North America. Users anywhere can go to Verda.com to search for the best local dispensaries near them to shop for cannabis products. Users have the option to select for easy pickup or same-day home delivery depending on the regulations available in their region.
Investment[edit]
In January 2019, Verda raised CA$420,000 in a Pre-Seed Round from the Chicago ArchAngels and Corbin Kempenaar, then in June 2019, Verda raised an additional CA$500,000 from the Accelerator Centre.
Verda is apart of MaRs, Velocity, Launchpad Incubator, AC Jumpstart, and the Communitech network.
