Veritas Varsity Private School, is a private, non-parochial, independent and coeducational college preparatory high school located in Lorena, TX, serving Waco, TX and McLennan County, TX. The school was organized in the summer of 2008 for a fall 2009 opening. Veritas Varsity is a three-year regimen rather than the traditional four-year program. Students can earn up to 9.5 credits each year they are enrolled in the program. All Texas-mandated minimum objectives for high school graduation are met or exceeded at the school.
The campus consists of two buildings on 20 acres (8.1 ha) in Waco's ETJ (extraterritorial jurisdiction), located just off the Old Lorena Highway and Mourning Dove Lane. Laptop computers are issued to all students and replace traditional textbooks as a primary learning resource.
The schedule and program of study have been adapted to accommodate domestic and foreign travel experiences for the students. Three days of academic, block scheduling permit two days of the weekly calendar being available for local and regional field trips, seminars, retreats, and other special learning events.
A Humanities course of study, including both history and English, in addition to a rigorous math and science regimen constitute the core curriculum for the Veritas program. Additionally, participation in a fine arts program, including choral and instrumental music as well as visual and performing art (drama), is a requirement for all students.
