Veritium Political Insights is an American website that focuses on predicting, reporting, and analyzing election results in the United States. Veritas Political Insights was founded in 2019 by current Yale University student Zachary Donnini as an alternative to traditional election forecasting websites.[1] The Veritium Insights team was frustrated by how other forecasters in the industry were stuck in the past, since the "election of Donald Trump in 2016 fundamentally changed the down-ballot political landscape." Veritium Insights uses "big data" to analyze elections, and specifically targets the reliability of polling in modern election forecasting.[2] The team claims it analyzed "over 300" Senate Races to build its model, and the model is based upon significant trends in order to try to predict the next election instead of the last one.[3]
Role in the 2021 Gubernotorial Elections[edit]
Veritium Insights also runs a decision desk as part of its organization, was the first major election reporting organization to call the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election for Glenn Youngkin (at 8:27 PM EST, November 2nd) and the 2021 New Jersey gubernatorial election for Phil Murphy (at 9:16 AM EST, November 3rd). It made these calls after extrapolating that the losing candidates would not be able to make up their deficits through uncounted votes.[4] [5]
Veritium Insights was one of the few sites to release predictions for 2021 Governor races. Veritium Insights' final forecast was within a point of the final result of the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election.[6] The site's forecast for the 2021 New Jersey gubernatorial election was significantly further off, although it did correctly predict a Phil Murphy victory.
