Vijay Nehra

Vijay Nehra is an IAS officer of 2001 batch.[1] He is currently working as municipal commissioner of Amdavad Municipal Corporation since July 2018.[2] Before Ahmedabad Mr. Nehra has worked as collector of Vadodara[3] & Rajkot.[4]
Education
Nehra is holding an MSc (Chemistry)[5] degree and he is also holding a master's degree from Goldman School of Public Policy, Berkeley, California.[6]
Work
Nehra was part of Narendra Modi's core team when Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat.[7] He was transferred as the joint secretary (law and order) in the home department with additional charge of joint secretary in the CMO. Later, his position was re-designated as additional secretary to the government in the CMO.[8]
Municipal commissioner Ahmedabad
Since 2018, he has taken many steps to improve the lifestyle of the people of Ahmedabad. Some of the initiatives are listed below.
Ganesh Visarjan
In September 2019, Amdavad Municipal Corporation had created 61 artificial ponds[9] for Ganesh Visarjan. People chose artificial ponds over Sabarmati River for Ganesh Visarjan.[10][11][12]
