Vikas Oberoi (Born 1969)[2] is an Indian Billionaire businessman, philanthropist and a real - estate developer[3] and the current chairman and managing director of Oberoi Realty[4], a real estate development company based out in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India known for its high-end suburban condos. He was listed as 81th richest Indian and number #1517 among world's billionaire by Forbes in 2020.[1][5]

He is the owner of Oberoi Realty, and the Oberoi Mall.[1][5]He has done Bachelor of Arts/Science from Bombay University and has pursued MBA from Harvard Business School, Boston, USA. He is also on the India Advisory Board of Harvard Business School.[6] As of June 2021, he has a net worth of around US$ 2.5 Billion as listed by Forbes.[7][8]

He is married to Gayatri Joshi, a former bollywood actress[9] and has two children.

Controversy[edit]

Accused of cheating[edit]

In 2014, Vikas Oberoi's company Oberoi Realty was accused to cheat flat buyers. Oberoi refunded all the money to the flat buyers who accused him.[10][11][12][13]

Stamp paper Controversy[edit]

Vikas Oberoi brought 20 stamp papers- Rs 100 each- which was purchased from Bombay High Court premises in May 2014. One of stamp papers was used for Ajit Rajnikant Pancholi. Actually the original stamp paper was on names of A A Lale and L A Lale. Oberoi's and its accomplices applied whitener on names of A A Lale and Ajit Rajnikant Pancholi came to be written on it. The stamp paper purchase date was also changed using whitener. The accused personated as Ajit Rajnikant Pancholi before the Notary and got the power of attorney notarised. Ajit Rajnikant Pancholi then left India. Oberoi denied all the claims and no legal action was done against him.[14][15]

Vikas Oberoi got the True Entrepreneur Of The Year Award at the Economic Times ACETECH Award in Mumbai (2010).[16][17]

Philanthropy[edit]

Oberoi is also the founder of ‘Oberoi Foundation’[18] which focuses on the development of educational institutions and other social infrastructure. The Oberoi International School in Mumbai was also opened in such initiative by the Foundation that aims to provide world-class education for children.[6]
