  • Founded in 1931 in Askim, Norway, they were manufacturing rubber products (including shoes and tyres).
  • By 1970 their market share in Norway was in excess of 50%, becoming the market leader and began to supply for Volkswagen, Opel, Ford and Volvo.
  • In 1983 Viking went international, with expansions to Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the USA.
  • Continental AG acquires the trademark rights in the early 1990s.
  • By 2008, the company reached the 1 million tires sold per year milestone.
  • Their SnowTech II winter tire model was launched in 2010.
  • In 2012 the CityTech II and TransTech II models joined their catalogue, offering summer tire solutions to cars and vans as well.
