Vincent Djokoto

Vincent Letsa Kobla Djokoto (born 27 June 1995) is a Ghanaian media practitioner, political activist [1][2] historian[3][4] and lawyer. He is a member of the Tenge-Dzokoto Royal Family of Anyako[5].[6][7][8][9]

Education[edit]

Djokoto was educated at Christ the King School in Accra for primary education. He subsequently enrolled at The Roman Ridge School where he became Headboy in Sixth form.[10]

Djokoto passed his IGCSE and then three GCE Advanced Level: History; Economics and Literature.

In September 2013, Djokoto began his Bachelor of Laws course at the Swansea University. While at Swansea, Djokoto became a member of the United Grand Lodge of England.[11][12]

He later enrolled at the City Law School, in September 2017, to pursue a postgraduate degree in the Legal Practice Course.[8]

In 2016, after he earned a Bachelor of Laws, Djokoto worked briefly for the Legal Directorate of The Ghana Armed Forces. He joined the Judicial Service of Ghana afterwards as a legal clerk[13] and eventually served as paralegal for Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, Chief Justice of Ghana and Jones Victor Mawulorm Dotse, a judge in the Supreme Court of Ghana.[8]

Media career[edit]

In 2017, Djokoto also gained employment as a Columnist for Enjoy Magazine.[14][15] His monthly column – Djokoto's Diary – attracted a huge readership across Ghana, especially within the intelligentsia, and stood out for its combination of politics with popular culture.[16]

Djokoto is a Television producer for Good Evening Ghana – a late night political talk show – on Metro Television.

He is also a Business Executive at the Class Media Group.[14]

An avid writer[17][18],[19] Djokoto has a portfolio of articles widely published by reputable online and print platforms in Ghana on topics such as current affairs,[20][21][22][23][24][25][26] history, business, sports[27] and music.[28][29]

Djokoto is currently the Chief executive officer of Accra Evening News – a newspaper founded by Kwame Nkrumah in 1948.[30]

Historian[edit]

Djokoto has explored a lot of pre-colonial, post-colonial and modern history published on the Graphic Communications Group Limited and Multimedia Group Limited news platforms, among others.

He has written on elitism and life in the Gold Coast (British colony);[31][4] political personalities such as Kwame Nkrumah[32][33] and Komla Agbeli Gbedemah;[34] and journalist Komla Dumor.[35]

Political activist[edit]

  • Djokoto, a centre-left youth-oriented[36] political activist[37], has advocated for a constitutional amendment of the Presidential age-limit in Ghana that will set it at age 30.[2]
  • He has called for a 50% female Parliament of Ghana by 2024.[38][39]
  • He has also set out comprehensive education,[40] healthcare[41] and local government[42] reform proposals.
