Vincotech is a supplier of power semiconductor modules. As an independent affiliate of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation with around 800 employees worldwide[2], the enterprise develops and manufactures electronic power components for motion control, renewable energy, and power supply applications. Vincotech offers off-the-shelf products as well as application-specific solutions. In 2019 turnover was 159.7 million Euros.[1]
History
Vincotech's roots date back to 1968, when the Telecommunication Group of Siemens AG began manufacturing hybrid circuits in Munich. Siemens bought the Bicske plant in 1992 and its EC unit began manufacturing power modules and hybrid circuits there in 1996. Tyco took over Siemens EC[3] and renamed it Tyco Electronics, Electronic Modules, in 2000. Seven years later, the Gores Group acquired Tyco Electronics Power Systems, carved out the former Electronic Modules business and renamed it Vincotech[4]. In 2010, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation acquired Vincotech [5], which has since operated independently as an affiliated company [6]
Vincotech, as a name, is a portmanteau of the Latin vincere (to win, to vanquish, to conquer) and tech as in technology.
