Vinod Illampally Indian cinematographer and producer who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema.[1] He made his debut with Red Salute (2006 film). His well-known films include Grandmaster (2012 film), Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam, Pullikkaran Staraa, [2] Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, [3] Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham, [4]. He also worked as second unit cinematographer on Hindi films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, written and directed by Anurag Kashyap.[5] Vinod made his debut as a producer by co-producing the film Njan Steve Lopez .[6]
Career[edit]
After completing his bachelor's degree from Kottayam CMS college, Vinod started assisting cinematographer Venu in 1997-98 for a period of about 7 years. In 2006 he became an independent cinematographer with the movie Red Salute starring Kalabhavan Mani. He then became part of a variety of hit movies including Grandmaster[7], Romans Om Shanti Oshana and Su Sudhi Vatmeekam.
Vinod has also worked in Bollywood as second unit cameraman under Rajeev Ravi for Anurag Kashyap`s Gangs of Wasseypur.
Vinod was also the cinematographer for the movie 'Divorce'(2021) which was KSFDC`s (Kerala State Film Development Coroporation) first production venture.
In between, for about four years Vinod independently worked in the advertisement world for around 60 brands including prominent ones like Samsung, Kalyan Silks and Double Horse.

Awards[edit]
Vinod was awarded the Critics award 2009 for his work in the movie 'Patham Nilayile Theevandi'. He bagged the Amrita Film Awards for the movies Grandmaster and Chattakkaari.
