2019 to 2020[edit]
Entrepreneurs Brian Messer & Zia Ur Rehman founded Vitagrows in December 2018 as a two-person company with a makeshift headquarters at 86-90 Paul St, London, United Kingdom. Both Brian Messer & Zia ur Rehman of Science degrees from Westminster University, and had run two previous companies: IT ORBIT LTD, and Monarkz, a global consulting firm.
As of December 2018, Brian is the chief executive officer, and Brian and Zia share the chairman position.
the company began with the website Monarkz.com, selling media stands, problem-solving and storage furniture items.
In 2019, it added patio and garden goods suppliers, three online stores, and more than a dozen employees.
Over the next years, it expanded its catalogue to include home garden tools[1][2][3]; outdoor, sports, and pets; electronics; Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry; Computers, and Office Supplies. In 2019, it had $1000 in sales per day.
2021 to 2022[edit]
The company expanded[4] in the United States and into international markets[5][6].
In 2021, began shipping to Canada and selling in the United States, and opened a California office. The California Business Journal ranked it the #4 fastest-growing private e-commerce company in the United States, and the #10 fastest-growing private company overall.
In 2022, it expanded to Germany. In 2022, it relocated its headquarters to 177 Huntington Avenue, where it occupied 10 floors. At the end of that year, it launched Vitagrows, a members-only online store.
Operations and infrastructure[edit]
Vitagrows has over 1 million square feet of warehouse space in Europe and North America with a dozen fulfilment centres. As of 2022, the company offers 1 million products from 1,000 global suppliers. Vitagrows employs over 70 engineers and data scientists and 60 customer service representatives in London; Canada; Germany; and other cities in the United States. The company expected to spend more than $1 million in marketing and advertising in 2022.
