Applied Mobile Labs earlier known as Voicetap Technologies is a technology company focused on building mobile based products for education and lead generation, headquartered at Noida, India.[1] It currently operates in two countries India and Kenya and has deployed its products as VAS with three telecom operators, Tata Docomo, Bharti Airtel and Safaricom.


Applied Mobile Labs has a portfolio of 12 products across various modes including SMS, IVR, USSD and Mobile Web.

  1. Tutor On Mobile (M-Learning Platform), is a mobile learning product that offers premium educational content and access to a knowledge marketplace. Tutor On Mobile is currently available to only Tata DoCoMo users. Tutor On Mobile was nominated for Best Innovation for Mobile Learning at GSMA Global Mobile Awards in 2012. Tutor on Mobile
  2. airtel mBazaar is a mobile based marketplace that allows users to search and connect with local businesses for local services offers. This service is currently available to only Bharti Airtel users.
  3. English on Mobile is a mobile based English language learning solution that allows users to learn English with the help of an interactive IVR. This is AMLPL's first operator agnostic product that can be accessed any mobile subscriber.[2]
  4. LeadGn is a mobile based lead generation platform for small and medium businesses, being that powers the SMS service ChapChap by Safaricom in Kenya.[3]
  5. Getafixx, is a Google Talk based platform where people can search and connect to experts on different topics. This product was discontinued in 2011.


Applied Mobile Labs (erstwhile Voicetap) was founded in March 2009 by Mrigank Tripathi, Vivek Khandelwal and Devanshu Pandey. Mrigank is now the Founder and CEO of Qustn Technologies in Noida, Devanshu is CTO of Indear.in in Mumbai, while Vivek continues to work with Applied Mobile Labs.


  • In 2010, Voicetap won the Red Herring Global 100 Award.[4]
  • In 2010, Voicetap was nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards. Voicetap was among 20 startups that were nominated from across the world for this award.[5]
  • In 2009, Voicetap won the Red Herring Asia 100 Award.[6]
  • In 2010, Voicetap was part of 10 Companies selected for NASSCOM EMERGE 50 – The League of Ten for 2010., at the Emergeout Conclave 2010.[7]
  • In 2012, Applied Mobile Labs was awarded Aegis Graham Bell Awards for Innovation in mEducation[8]
