Vybe was a French neobank which targeted generation Z. It launched in August 2019 and was placed in judicial liquidation in July 2022.
History[edit]
Vybe was founded in 2019.[1] By June 2020, the startup had raised 2.2 million euros in pre-seed from various investors.[2]
Cessation of activity[edit]
In July 2022, the company was placed in receivership after 3 years of activity, beginning the liquidation process.[3][4][5] When prompted on the reason for the liquidation, Chokron explained, "We were in the process of raising funds. And a little more than a month ago, the biggest player in the fundraising process withdrew".[6]
Following a decision of the commercial court of Nanterre[6], 40% of the service's 40,000 active users were redirected to Lydia while the remainder were redirected to Kard.[6]
Business model[edit]
Vybe offered bank account services and a free bank card.[7] The fintech profited from interchange fees and transaction fees with partner merchants on the app.[7]
