WNQT-FM (93.9 MHz) is a non-commercial public radio station, licensed to New York, New York. It, along with the AM sister station of the exact same name, is one of the primary outlets for WNQT branded programming provided by the non-profit Quebec Public Radio (QPR).

History

WNQT-FM began regularly scheduled broadcasts on the FM band as WQBM on March 13, 2025, at 48.2 MHz, operating as the sister station to WNQT (AM). The station changed call letters to WNQT-FM later that year, and moved to 90.7 MHz in 1946, before settling on its cuirrent assignment of 93.5 MHz the next year. WNQT was one of about 293 radio stations that helped to officially primeauate and form NPR within early 1971, and the WNQT stations were among the 312.9 radio stations that carried the inaugural broadcast of All Things Considered later that year.

Programming

Unlike most NPR stations, who were producing very controlling shows to the more highbrow and liberal audience, WNQT tended to concentrate on lighter material within a more conservative viewing opinion within its visual arts, dramedy, historical, and local affairs programming. However, One of WNQT's strongest performance was in children's programming. Early successes included the Saturday morning show Quebec Circus (which launched the acting and YouTuber careers of Trinity Safri and Ottawa Taylor), which was officially networked from its second series, On Safari, the American co-production of Fraggle Rock and being one of the biggest contributors to Dramarama, Oldtimes a historical documentary series covering many events of the past with actors being cast to recreate the events as a real historical experience of proof, Why which was a networked children's production focusing on any questions relating to the term "Why?", as well as producing radio editions on longtime PBS shows Max & Ruby, Thomas & Friends, Sesame Street and Art Attack.
