WWE 2K23 is an upcoming 2023 professional wrestling sports video game[1] developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It is the twenty-third overall installment of the video game series based on WWE, the tenth game under the WWE 2K banner. The game is slated to be released on March 17, 2023,[2] for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. This was the first WWE video game since WWE 2K20 to have double title entrance,[3] and the first WWE 2K game ever to have WarGames.[4][5][6] In WWE 2K23, Cody Rhodes will be making a comeback after 6 years after his last game (as Stardust.)[7][8]

Players who pre-ordered any WWE 2K23 edition will get a Bad Bunny DLC character. In the Deluxe edition, it will include: Three-Day Early Access, The Season Pass, The MyRISE Mega-Boost pack, The Supercharger Pack, and MyFaction Cards. The Icon edition includes: The Ruthless Aggression Content pack, and The Icon Edition Content pack.[9]


Gameplay

Like the previous game, WWE 2K23 has a hybrid of arcade and simulation-style gameplay.[10][11] WarGames will be making its debut for the first time in any WWE game.[12] The game modes that are confirmed are MyFaction, MyGM, Showcase, MyRise, and a Creation Suite.[13][14][15] 2K Showcase Mode returned as Showcase, featuring cover superstar John Cena,[16][17] allowing players to play through the biggest moments of his WWE career. The 2K Showcase mode incorporates new features and updates including the ability to fight John Cena in the mode.[18] By progressing through, players are able to unlock new characters, attires, and arenas. In WWE 2K23, MyFACTION returns.[19] In it, players are able to build a wrestling stable by collecting, managing, and upgrading WWE wrestlers with regular updates and weekly events. MyFACTION features player cards from throughout WWE's history. Community creations in the creation suite have cross-platform support for users who are signed in to a verified 2K account. Custom images can also be used in character select screens, allowing the player to put their own photo(s) on screen.

Development

The WarGames match type, according to the developers, has been in development since WWE 2K22.[5] In WWE 2K23, there will be three editions: Standard, Icon, Deluxe, and the Cross-Gen Digital edition.[20][21][22][23][24][25]
