Wang Lei (snowboarder)

Wang Lei (born May 14, 1977, Jilin) is a Chinese professional snowboarder.[1]

Snowboarding career[edit]

Wang Lei started to snowboard in 1997 and turned professional in 2004. His stance is goofy and his home mountain is Changbaishan.[citation needed]

His major sponsors in his early years, 2004-2006: 9010 Snowboards, own pro model; 2007-2013 Burton Snowboards.[clarification needed]

During 2014-2018: Nitro, L1, Dragon, Skullcandy.


Since 2019 Wang Lei is a testimonial for The North Face and continues to inspire people worldwide to enjoy snowboarding and the outdoors.

World Snowboard Day

After a highly successful active career as pro rider in China, Wang Lei established himself in a unique position.[which?] The former army / national team skier (active years 1989-2002) currently serves as the patron of World Snowboard Day (WSD) in Asia. 2015 marks the 10 year anniversary edition of WSD. Wang Lei, alongside legends Gian Simmen and Rob Kingwell are the ambassadors to help push WSD as the major grass roots event for snowboarding. WSD is putting out impressive turnouts of the event year after year since its inaugural edition in 2006.[citation needed]


China SNOWboard Association

Wang Lei founded and currently helms the China SNOWboard Association (CSbA) 中国单板联盟 as president, putting great effort into progressing snowboarding in his home country.[citation needed]
