WarCry (Table Top Game)[edit]
Warcry is a tabletop miniatures strategy game developed and released by Games Workshop, and was released in June of 2019. the game is set in Games Workshops' "Age of Sigmar" setting. Players build small "warbands" of plastic models from one of the various tribes that worship the Chaos Gods and vie for combat supremacy in the "Realm of Karak Eight-Peaks" in an effort to gain the favour f whichever Chaos God the Warband serves.
Warcry is a 2 player game which is usually played on a 24"x30" board, with terrain. Warcry is unique in that it comes with a terrain board and plastic terrain pieces. Unlike most previous games workshop games, a key component of this game is the deck of cards that explicitly advises players where to put terrain ont he table to fulfil a scenario, where previous Games Workshop games allow for player agency when placing terrain pieces. Games of Warcry range from 15- 45 minutes, depending on the experience level of the players.
Announcement and Release[edit]
After the immense success of the relaunch of Necromunda in 2017, Games workshop developed WarCry which served as a skirmish size game system for their "Age of Sigmar" product and narrative line. In April of 2019, Games workshop announced development of WArcry [Pending citation] and the game was released three months later in June to a mixed, but supportive response. Its simplicity in play made it very easy to pick up and learn, and is considered an alternative for potential Age of Sigmar buyers who want to get a taste of the models and narratives but on a more conservative budget.
