The eleventh series of the British television drama series Waterloo Road was confirmed on 23 September 2021, after a 6-year hiatus. The renewal for another series was made after the boxset for Waterloo Road released on BBC iPlayer in 2019, received high ratings. The show and set will also move back to Greater Manchester, the city it was set in from series 1–7.[1]
Cast
On 23 September 2021, the BBC announced that casting would be announced in 'due course'. It is currently not known if any of the previous cast members will reprise their roles. [1]
Criticism
The return of the show came just months after it was announced that long-running hospital drama Holby City was cancelled; many fans of Holby City have criticised the BBC for replacing the show with Waterloo Road.[2]
