Wayfield Foods, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is a local chain of 8 supermarkets located across the Atlanta metropolitan area.[1] The company sells groceries, with several locations also incorporating pharmacies and fuel centers.
History
Wayfield Foods was founded in 1982 by Ron Edenfield and Ralph Calloway in Lithia Springs, Georgia, U.S.. The name Wayfield is a portmanteau of the founders’ last names, Calloway and Edenfield.[2] In 1989, Edenfield became the owner and president after Calloway left the business. Wayfield Foods introduced an employee stock ownership plan in 1992 to allow associates to be part of the chain.[3]
