Wayne Langston (born October 26, 1993) is an American basketball player for Hapoel Galil Elyon in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball at McLennan Community College and Murray State University. He plays the forward position.[1]
Early life[edit]
He is the son of Neal Langston and Kim Jackson-Cage.[2] Langston was born in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and his hometown is Washington, D.C.[3][2] He is 6-7 (201 cm) tall, and weighs 245 pounds (111 kg).[3]
Langston played basketball for the Pumas at Dr. Henry A. Wise High School ('12) in Maryland.[4][5][1][2] He averaged 18.6 points and 12 rebounds per game.[2]
College[edit]
Langston played basketball for two seasons at McLennan Community College for the Highlanders in Waco, Texas, in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.[6][7][2] He was named Player of the Year in the NTJCAC, was named an All Star, and was one of 10 players to be named a First Team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.[6][8][2] In the 2013-14 season, as a sophomore he had 11.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, and had a .602 field goal percentage.[9][10]
He then transferred to Murray State University ('16) in Kentucky, where Langston majored in integrated studies/general studies.[1][2] In 2014-15, playing for the Ohio Valley Conference Murray State Racers in 33 games he played an average of 12.2 minutes per game with 2.5 points and 3.2 rebounds, in 12.2 minutes per game.[11][2] In 2015-16, he had a .697 field goal percentage (the 10th best in MSU history, and the 11th-best in the nation), 13.5 points per game, and 6.1 rebounds per game (10th in the conference).[2][12] In 2016 he was named to the Gulf Coast Showcase All-Tournament Team.[9] His career .625 field goal percentage is the school's third-highest.[13]
Professional career[edit]
2016-19[edit]
In 2016-17 Langston played for MBK Rieker Komárno in the Slovak Extraliga.[7][4][9][14] He averaged 14.7 points and 7.0 rebounds (3rd in the league) per game, with a .609 field goal percentage (3rd).[9][15]
In 2017-18, he played for Hapoel Afula in the Israel National League. [16][7][4][17] Langston had 17.7 points and 10 rebounds per game, and was 8th in the league with a .564 field goal percentage. [16][17]
In 2018-19, Langston played for Maccabi Ra'anana in the Israel National League.[16] He averaged 17.5 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.[16]
2020-present[edit]
In 2019-20, he played for Hapoel Galil Elyon in the Israeli National League.[16] Langston averaged 18.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, with a 68% field goal percenage.[18][19][20][21]
In 2020-21 Langston played for Urania Milano in the Italian Legadue Gold.[22][23][24][21][4][25][9][19] He averaged 15.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, with a .610 field goal percentage.[9]
In 2021-22, he played for Blu Basket Gruppo Remer Treviglio in the Legadue Gold.[4][25][9] Langston averaged 12.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, with a .566 field goal percentage.[26][9][27]
In 2022 he played for Abejas de León of the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP).[28][27][29][9] Langston averaged 12.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, with a .601 field goal percentage.[9]
In December 2022 Langston signed with Hapoel Galil Elyon in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, for which he currently plays.[20][9][30][31][32]
