Wesley King (born 1987) is an award-winning Canadian author and speaker.[1][2] As of June 6, 2017, Wesley King has published 7 books. His works have been optioned for film and television and translated into many different languages around the globe.[3]

Background

Upon graduating from Carleton University with an honours degree in journalism, Wesley King published his first novel, The Vindico, about a group of teenage super villains. Following the success of that debut novel, King became a prolific children's writer and speaker.[4]

His novels have won or been nominated for a variety of awards. His novel OCDaniel won the Edgar Award for Best Juvenile, the Silver Birch Award, and the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award.[5] King also actively presents to readers around the world and has served as the Writer-in-Residence for schools ranging from Northern Ontario to Port Salerno, Florida.

Personal life

Wesley King was born in Ajax, Ontario and now resides in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia.

King was an accomplished high school athlete and often incorporates sports into his novels. His novel OCDaniel addresses mental illness in children based on his own experiences with the disorder.[6] King has spoken publicly about his ongoing struggles with anxiety disorders.[7]
