West Springfield Middle School is a middle school that ranges from grades 6-8 within the confines of the city of West Springfield, Massachusetts. The school is sectioned into pods each with their own grade and color, such as 6th grade is green, 7th is red, and 8th is blue. The student population ranges between 925-950 students annually and is among the largest Middle Schools in its area. In was built in 1998. The first Principal was Richard L. Berte who was formerly the Principal of the West Springfield Junior High School. Mr. Berte was the Principal from 1998-2003. Thomas J. McNulty, Jr. was the building's second Principal serving from 2003-2015. Mr. McNulty was awarded The New England League of Middle School's A+ Administrator Award in 2008. Dr. Peter J. Gillen succeed Mr. McNulty in 2015. In 2019, Dr. Gillen was named the Massachusetts School Administrator's Association's Edmund K. Fanning Award winner as the Massachusetts's State Middle School Principal of the year. In 2021, Dr. Gillen was named to the New England League of Middle School's Board of Directors.

West Springfield Middle School has a staff of over 70 teachers and over 125 total staff. Its teaching and administrative staff has garnered multiple teaching awards and accolades. Its student body is among the most diverse in its region (Western Massachusetts) and celebrates a wide variety of cultures and languages.
