"Where Did it All Go Wrong?" is the debut song from American singer DG, to be featured on his upcoming EP, R&Be Yourself.[1][upper-alpha 1]. It was released to YouTube on April 6, 2020[2], and Soundcloud in June 2020[3]
Composition[edit]
The production is very simplistic. Piano, bass and string MIDIs are stitched together along with a Crystal EP sample. The song was initially written about DG's struggle with depression, trying to visualize when he lost his 'innocence,' and how his life then was not nearly as eventful or memorable as it was years ago.[upper-alpha 2] The song was written before he had even been informed about the COVID-19 pandemic, but he later stated in an audio sample, "That's what the song could be interpreted as, a metaphor for what our world has turned into. My life has truly changed, now and forever, all because of this mess. I'm sure that's how most people feel."[upper-alpha 3]
Lyric video[edit]
A lyric video was released to YouTube on April 6, 2020. It displays a blue shard background graphic with beige calculator-font lyrics overtop.[2]
Reception[edit]
The song recieved no reception whatsoever, especially when considered alongside other songs of its style. The reception of its lyric video appears negative, as the song only has 2 likes and 3 dislikes, among the 78 views as of August 23, 2020.[2]
