White House Jesuit Retreat Center

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

White House is a Jesuit retreat center located in a suburb south of St. Louis, Missouri. White House retreat was founded in 1922 on 80 acres of land. It can accommodate 85 retreatants. The chapel building includes a simulated grotto of the cave at Manresa, Spain, where Saint Ignatius of Loyola received inspiration for writing the Spiritual Exercises. Facilities include the Stations of the Cross on a path along the bluffs.

For those who cannot take off work, retreats from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon are offered a few times per year. White House also hosts several Days of Prayer throughout the year as well as The Ignatian Spirituality Lecture Series. The retreats have spawned 16 ongoing retreat discussion groups which remain active. There is also an active Manresa Society with activities especially for those who have made a White House Retreat. In 2005 there were an average of 600 new participants per year at White House.[1][needs update]

In 2014 the White House's first lay director expressed his interest in increasing outreach to Latinos.[2] In 2018 33 men's 3-day, weekend retreats were scheduled besides retreats for women, coed, recovery, and young adults.
