Charles Dion McDowell, better known as Wide Neck is an American internet personality and rapper whose mugshot went viral on social media on November 2018.
Career[edit]
On November 13, 2018, McDowell's mugshot was posted by Escambia County, Florida sheriff's department on Facebook. His mugshot almost immediately went viral online, with online users commenting and making various memes referencing his neck.[1]The mugshot had over 264,000 shares on social media.[2]
McDowell collaborated with other Instagram personalities such as Supreme Patty and Damn Long Neck (David Samuelson Jr). Initially Samuelson and McDowell interacted with each other online and jokingly began to taunt each other, promising to fight each other.[3] In December 2018, McDowell met with Samuelson for the first time.[4][5][6] When the pair met, they shook hands, turned to the camera and declared in unison: "All necks matter."[7] McDowell later released 2 singles with Samuelson, including "Neckst Up" [8] and "Neckst Big Thing"[9]

McDowell grew up in Pensacola to a single mother.
Legal issues[edit]
On July 2018, McDowell was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine with an intent to sell, manufacture or deliver the drug, as well as possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment.[10]
On November 13 2018, McDowell was reportedly arrested for fleeing from police and being in possession of controlled substances. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office posted his mugshot on the department’s Facebook page.[11]
On November 19, 2018 McDowell was arrested again in Lee County, Alabama, on suspicion of attempting to elude, second-degree marijuana possessions, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving and improper lane usage.[12]
On January 29, 2019, McDowell was arrested again in Florida when the state revoked his bond for a prior arrest.[13][14]McDowell's management confirmed he was in jail in a statement posted on his Instagram, which currently has over 1 million followers.[15]
