Wigton Davy
Wigton Davy (1848 – 1908), was an Aboriginal Resistance Warrior from Gayndah.
1860 Maryborough Killings[edit]
Wigton Davy was chased from Gayndah to Maryborough in early 1860. On February 3, 1860, Bligh captured a poor old man who had been a constant attendant in Maryborough,[1] and against whom there never been a charge; John O'Connell Bligh chained him up, walked him through town and into the Bush [2] where he beheaded the elder while he was still alive.[3]
Wigton Davy would mention this event at his 1885 manslaughter trial.[1]
