Education[edit]

He received a scholarship to attend The Haberdashers' Askes school for boys. Bishop played cello and double bass in the Orchestra. He took music lessons from music teacher Mike Batt. Then he chose to study English Literature at the University of Sussex. There he was awarded an MA in English Literature from Professor Margaret Healy. Her text about Alchemy was an important source of inspiration for him. Camille Phillips (member of The Subways) taught him percussion in Brighton. He then went on on to study at the University of York under Professor Brian Cummings [8]. He then published his first book and chose a career in music away from Academia. Bishop has become a lifestyle influencer on Instagram. He has collaborated on campaigns with the Salvation Army [9] .

Published works, publications and career[edit]

Shakespeare's Sonnets, Alchemy and Individuation[10] is Bishop's first book. It discusses the relationship between the poems of William Shakespeare and Jungian psychology. He himself taught much of the text on courses at the Universities of York and Sussex. The text is in the collections of the British Library at Wetherby . Bishop describes the text as "about the creative process in general – how works of art and literature are expressions of an artistic process, which in turn is a means of accepting individuality". [11]

Bishop was asked about his writing process. Bishop stated in an interview with literature magazine The Indieview: "I don't have a separate writing process, I write when I want to write". [12]

In November 2022, Bishop published an article about Instagram influencers and the music industry. He concluded that "as long as what is produced will result in a product, aesthetics will continue to be valued less than price". [13]

Musical style[edit]

Second Time Around was produced by Crimson Studios in Arundal in 2021. Then Bishop toured Europe [14] in support of the launch of the album Waves on Wire. The album has been described as 'very minimalistic and sparse, with piano, guitar and vocals, so attention is drawn to the importance of the arrangement when they are heard.' During 2021 he shot the video for his 2021 single Medley #2 (which was nominated for a Berlin Music Video Award). The video was filmed at St Matthias Church, Stoke Newington. BBC Radio 1 use the church because of its natural acoustics. The single features a cover of Bob Dylan's Girl from the North Country (1963) and Bishop's own composition Hesperus and Phosphorus. The single Dance me to the end of love/The Night into Your Eyes [15] [16] was played on French and UK national stations that year. It was also featured in Darryl Stenúður's music magazine Tinnitist [17] . [18] In 2020 Bishop was invited to perform at the Live at Heart music festival in Ørebro, Sweden. [19] In 2020 he recorded Waves on Wire (2020). The studio album was produced by Isaac McInnis. Music from the album was used with permission by with the Department of Film, Television and Media at York University. Music from the album is also used by other companies. The album Bishop created is an example of minimalism in contemporary British Folk music [20] , [21] , [22] .
