William Wu was born on September 26, 1993 in Sydney, Australia. He is a Hong Kong-based entrepreneur, investor and Founder of Catheon Gaming, SolChicks[1] who was born and raised in Sydney, Australia.

Career[edit]

William started his career at McKinsey & Company in London in 2015 after graduating from the London School of Economics, where he consulted for 10+ large corporations and governments globally on corporate finance, value creation transformation, and operational improvement projects. The projects he was involved in included a $1B cost restructuring for a blue-chip mining company, M&A strategy for a $4B service provider, and market entry strategy for an African renewable energy company. He received the highest-tier rating of “distinctive” during his time at the company.

He was then a Vice President at Oaktree Capital from 2017 to 2021, focused on investing in opportunistic special situations and private equity opportunities across the fintech, retail, and industrial industries in Hong Kong and Australia. He has significant experience in business turnaround and valuation improvement across portfolio companies, including growing one business’ EBITDA by over 3 times in three years, roll-up acquisition strategy, and an IPO to achieve a ~50% IRR.[2]

In September 2021, William founded Catheon Gaming. Catheon Gaming is the largest blockchain gaming publisher in the world with over 240 people as of June 2022 and the only fully end-to-end platform providing world-class technical, publishing, and partnership capabilities across blockchains.[3][4][5]

William Wu attended the Sydney Grammar School where he obtained full scholarship for high school. He finished Bachelors of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, Masters of Science in Finance from the London School of Economics and Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.[6]
