WinDev is a software factory and Low-code development platform published by PC SOFT.It allows to create applications, mainly data-oriented, for Windows and also for Linux, .NET and Java. However, the development environment only supports Windows.[1].The first version of Windev was released in 1993.

    Details[edit]

The GUI editor allows you to create app's interface by drag-and-drop graphical components.

The programming is typically done in them, by directly entering code in the proposed events. Although app creation can occur with little programming, with its own langage, WLanguage (a fourth-generation programming language). Fields can be configured visually in the editor, with parameterization wizards.

WinDev comes with a free database system, HFSQL.HFSQL is available in Client/Server, Network, Local, Embedded, Mobile and Cloud mode. HFSQL runs on Windows, Linux and on Mobile (iOS, Android). In addition to HFSQL, WinDev can access to other DBMS via native connectors : Access, AS/400 & IBM i, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase, MySQL, xBase, Informix, Progress, PostgreSQL, Access, SQLite, MariaDB.

    Integration[edit]

WinDev uses proprietary file formats in binary form and its own in-house source manager. However, it is possible since version 25 to save files in text mode and therefore to use a standard version control system such as Git for example.

    Controversy[edit]

PC Soft is known and criticized for its communication presenting women and sometimes men in “sexy” outfits, for example coding in swimsuits.[2]
