Jordan Andrew Topf (born October 5, 1990) known professionally as Windser[1] is an American singer-songwriter and producer from Santa Cruz, California. Topf picked up the guitar at age 8 after his father showed him a tape of Jimi Hendrix. He studied music production at The City College of New York before forming Mainland which recorded their first demos in the college’s studios.
After recording Shiner EP with Jim Eno of Spoon, Mainland signed to 300 Entertainment. Following the signing the band recorded at Sound City Studios and subsequently released Outcast EP and several singles and EPs followed. Mainland disbanded in 2019 and Topf focused on songwriting and production.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 Topf retreated to a cabin in Northern California where he began recording songs that would make up his debut solo project “Where the Redwoods Meet the Sea”[2] under the moniker Windser. Windser’s first single “July”[3] released on July 31st, 2020.
Windser went on to collaborate with Macklemore on his comeback single “Next Year”[4] after hearing a vocal demo. Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and Windser performed live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. After the collaboration Windser released Memory produced by Jackson Phillips (Day Wave), a song about the loss of a childhood friend to overdose. The song began getting regular airplay on SiriusXM[5] and eventually Memory charted independently on top 40 Alternative Radio. Windser subsequently toured with Alt-J, Portugal. The Man[6], and Cannons following the success of Memory. Windser collaborated a second time with Macklemore on the song “Maniac”[1] off his studio album “Ben”. The duo performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live[7] and KEXP as well as performances at Fenway Park and BMO Stadium. Windser released his debut EP Where the Redwoods Meet the Sea on October 28th, 2022 after signing to Bright Antenna Records.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24]
