Wishmasters is a Czech symphonic metal band that emphasizes operatic elements combined with typical death metal growling.

Biography[edit]

The band Wishmasters was formed in early 2007. At that time, it was still a purely revival band playing symphonic metal songs by Nightwish. After several years of existence, however, they decided to switch to their own production, and in 2014 the band built their own recording studio and gained representation from a publishing company, under which they released their debut album called Beatrice, which is characterized by its story and symphonic arrangement.

With the album Beatrice, the band embarked on their first concert tour, sponsored by the leading Czech metal magazine Spark. The band played both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The young musicians from the Czech Republic had the opportunity to stand on the same stage as the Dutch band Within Temptation (at the Rock Pod Kameňom festival), or to visit large festivals such as Masters of Rock, or Basinfire Fest. They also played at the Polish Green Water Festival, where they won the award for best band of the festival.

In the autumn of 2016, the band participated in a tour called "Czech stars sing Queen" to commemorate Freddie Mercury's 70th birthday and 25th anniversary of his death. On the tour, the band's vocalist Iveta Aman excelled in the duet Barcelona alongside Vladimír Hron, receiving prolonged standing ovations at each performance in Brno, Liberec, Pilsen, and Ostrava. Thus, the band fulfilled another dream of playing in the large hall of Prague's Lucerna alongside stars such as Kamil Střihavka, Aleš Brichta, David Kraus, and Vlasta Horváth.[1]

In 2016, the musicians managed to record another duet, as part of their own hobby of covering Czech songs, with a metal cover of the song Zima, zima by Hana Zagorová. Eva Pilarová accepted the invitation, and her song Rodeo got a new coat in the "Wishmasters" style. This was the first time that the TOP Star magazine became interested in the band.

In 2017, the band announced the start of work on their second album in collaboration with Wolfandeer Art Production by Daniel Křížka

n 2017, the band announced the start of work on their second album in collaboration with Wolfandeer Art Production by Daniel Křižka (Czech SuperStar 2015), and in July they released their first single, "City of Emrei," along with a lyric video recorded in a Prague studio. In the fall, they shot the first part of the video for the next single in the desert under harsh conditions, thus beginning a new stage where their style and presentation are quite unconventional for Czech bands. Currently, the band is focusing on recording final versions of songs, finishing the video, and preparing other surprises, including a big fire show at upcoming concerts.

After the departure of singer Iveta Aman[2] in April 2018, Czech-Italian singer Shirley Tracanna joined the band. In November 2018, the band released their second studio album, "Afterworld," and shot an eponymous official video clip and a lyric video for the song "City of Emrei," starting a club tour.[3]

In March 2020, during the quarantine period, the band released the single "Wasteland," which can be found on YouTube with a lyric video. During the lockdown, they switched to covering well-known songs on YouTube under the Wishmasters brand.

Discography[edit]

Beatrice (2014) Afterworld (2018) Wasteland (Single) (2020)

Beatrice[edit]

The story of their first album, "Beatrice" (2014), is set in 19th-century London and follows the young opera singer Beatrice, who experiences a terrible life event that culminates in murder. Can she escape it? Can she start a new life? And most importantly, can she forgive herself, or is her conscience and subconscious stronger than her will? The album tells all.

Afterworld[edit]

Their second album, "Afterworld" (2018), focuses on a post-apocalyptic world. The world we know no longer exists. War and magic have destroyed almost all life. Nevertheless, hope remains. Through the album, the listener embarks on a journey through an epic fantasy story, where the main heroine Shi tries to save the world.

Wasteland[edit]

The band announced work on their third studio album with the release of the extended single "Wasteland" (2021), which, in addition to the eponymous song, also contained acoustic.
