Wolfgang Paul Galow (born in Landshut, Germany on September 21 1956) is a German chess player and photographer.

Wolfgang Galow is a photographer in Munich, Germany. His areas of expertise include portraits of chess players,[1] architectural photography[2] and wedding photography.[3]

Chess[edit]

Correspondence chess[edit]

He first won a national master-level correspondence chess tournament[4] in 1982/83, and later competed in various international correspondence chess tournaments in Europe and worldwide. In 1997, he achieved the title of international master in correspondence chess. In 1998, he achieved a rating of 2448 in correspondence chess, his lifetime high.

Over-the-board chess[edit]

Galow started playing chess in 1971 as a member of the Landshut Chess Club. In 1976 he was the youth champion of Lower Bavaria in fast chess. More recently, he joined the chess division of FC Bayern Munich. His highest Elo rating in OTB chess was 2129, which me maintained from July 1999 until October 2015.
