The World Tens Series was an international rugby tens tournament which was played in Bermuda from October 24 until November 7, 2020.[1]
Privately owned teams shared a cultural rugby experience in Bermuda. Eight teams were drawn into two groups of four with a quarterfinal, semi-final and the final taking place on November 7 at the Bermuda National Stadium for the first tournament which is intended to produce running rugby. From 2021 the tournament will be expanded to include 16 teams playing in 12 different locations around the world throughout the season.
The World Tens Series is tens rugby with rolling substitutions and introduces a new points system to the sport of rugby.[2] Tries, penalty tries remained at the five points, but penalty kicks and drop goals moved to two points. The Series also introduced conversion jeopardy, where the team decides on where to kick the conversion from. 1 point would awarded if a conversion was made from the blue point closest to the uprights. 2 points would awarded if a conversion was made from either orange point on the 22 meter line. 3 points would awarded if a conversion was made from either yellow point on the 10 meter line. And 5 points would awarded if a conversion was made from the red point on the 50 meter line.
