WorthPoint is an American online services corporation providing resources for researching and valuing antiques and collectibles.[1] It was founded by Will Seippel and is based in the Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs, Georgia.[2]
History[edit]
WorthPoint Corporation was established in 2007 by Will Seippel.[3]
In March 2008 WorthPoint moved its headquarters from Northern Virginia to the Advanced Technology Development Center incubator on Georgia Tech's campus in Atlanta.[4] The company graduated from the incubator in 2011[5] and remains in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
In October 2008, WorthPoint acquired GoAntiques, a Dublin, Ohio-based ecommerce company specializing in collectibles and antiques.[6] WorthPoint sold GoAntiques to Gemr in 2015.[7]
Products and Operations[edit]
WorthPoint's core offering is an online price guide database for antiques and collectibles with over 500 million items and their sold prices from over 350 sources.[8][9]
WorthPoint hosts "Treasure Hunt" workshop events at antique shows and flea markets around the United States several times per year.[10][11]
WorthPoint historically also offered online valuations from individual appraisers, however they no longer provides this service.[12]
