Xi Qiming (Chinese: 奚其明; pinyin: Xi Qiming; born 20 September 1941) is a Chinese contemporary classical composer.
Xi's music creation covers a wide range of types, including symphony, symphonic poems, concertos, ballets, operas, chorus, chamber music, stage music, film music and a large number of songs. He was awarded the title of national first-class composer. He is a director of the Chinese Musicians Association and also the composer in residence of the Shanghai Ballet. His music creation styles are diverse, and he is incisive and comfortable in controlling works of different themes, forms, styles, and genres. For example, the ballet "Soul", "Sorrow for the Dead", "Song of Youth", etc., have added valuable resources to Chinese ballet music and promoted the development of Chinese ballet music. In the 1980s, another masterpiece was created: the lyrical symphonic poem "Look forward to", which was loved by the audience and performers and became one of the repertoires of Chinese symphonic works.
